Look At You, Strawberries! Fields Rolling On in Singapore!
Strawberry fans, rejoice! This February, Saitama Prefecture will be bringing a whole range of luxury Japanese Strawberries and Strawberry products! For the first time ever, the strawberries, as well as products made with them, will be available for sale direct to the Singapore public via Singapore Home Cooks Facebook group on 1 February 2021.
These super high-grade strawberry varieties include Yayoi-hime, Beni-hoppe, Tochi-otome and Amarin, sold in Tokyo’s specialty stores and supermarkets and rarely exported internationally. The Amarin, in particular, is grown only by a few farmers and is very hard to procure outside Japan.
Other products such as the Nagatoro Fukushima Farm’s Strawberry Pudding, the Yuki Ichigo, a baumkuchen (layered cake) that is made with strawberry puree, agatoro Strawberry Cider, Strawberry Jam, Strawberry Sauce and Strawberry Butter will also be showcased.
