A Winston-Salem restaurant is awarding customers a 15 percent discount if they pray in public before eating their meals.
Mary’s Gourmet Diner in Winston-Salem gives the discount for anyone who takes a step back to appreciate their food before gobbling it down. Although the restaurant has been doing this trend for a few years but a recent Facebook post featuring a receipt with the discount has gone viral, highlighting this unique tradition.
The owner said that the idea behind this act is on the idea of gratitude and it does not have to be with any religious inclination but rather a spiritual one.
To get the “prayer discount” is an easy feat. Anyone who comes into the eatery --which specializes in farm-to-table comfort food - seen "having a moment" gets 15 percent off the bill.
They do not publicize this promotion nor do the guests know way ahead of time. They just deliver the bill with the price reduction.
