Farmers Grievances Starting From Rice

India is the second largest producer of rice, following closely behind China with about 105 million tonnes produced. Rice plays an important part of diet for Asian countries and consumption is expected to rise with production following suit to cater to the increased demand. However, as with all economic issues, high demand and high supply might soon create risks and issues that may fluctuate and go out of hand. For example, once demand has been achieved, high supply could result in redundant goods where perishable goods will cease to hold a value after a certain period and goods will then be sold for lower prices to clear the stocks. By then, losses will pile up with smaller companies facing liquidation. For more on this discussion, visit
