Having its first in Bordeaux, the Vinexpo has since spread the love for wines and spirits to Asia and will be holding 2014’s Vinexpo in Hong Kong from May 27-29. This year, the Chairman of Vinexpo, Xavier de EIZAGUIRRE, made his way to Singapore, just to introduce to the Singapore media on what to look out for in the biggest ‘Vine expo’ you can find anywhere. During the media conference, multiple statistics with regards to the various countries and their correlation to either producing, consuming, importing or exporting, all the relevant statistic were given, with the comparison of 2008 to 2012, and a projection of the possible statistics from 2013 to 2017. Although not the expo itself, the statistics were insightful in exhibiting how alcohol influence has changed over the years. What interest us most was that although it started in Bordeaux, France was not ranked first in any of the statistics, but it was in the top few. Statistical research was also done for Singapore, but with the increase in tariffs on alcohol, are the statistics still accurate. Nonetheless, it is only a prediction and projection of the possible in future. What the wine world entails in the future, we wouldn’t know, but for now, the wine and spirit industry seems to be growing.
