World Oyster Opening Championship

Oh yes you heard right. There is a competition to opening oysters and chefs from the finest establishments in Singapore have been invited to compete for a place in the World Oyster Opening Championship at the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival in Ireland in Semptember. With 15 contestants from establishments like Swissotel and various oyster bars in the city, contestants will fight to open 30 oysters in the shortest possible time while maintaining international standards of presentation for the oysters. After a grueling competition. the winner of the annual Guinnes Oyster Opening Championships went to... Chan Chee Meng from Muddy Murphy's Irish Pub, finishing with a time of 3 mins 58 secs!!! Do us proud in Ireland, oyster opening guru!
