Spirits have been crushed ever since the earthquake in Japan, Fukushima with farmers near that area worrying about sales due to the common fear amongst the residences that the food may be contaminated or tainted. Chef Harutomo Hagi is about to change this situation and to boost the morale of the farmers in need of help. He has packed a luggage full of ingredients from Fukushima Prefecture as well as certificates to prove the authenticity and the safety of food products from Fukushima. Travelling all the way to Paris, Chef Hagi is the best representative to do so with his restaurant suffering as well as a result of the earthquake. Perhaps touched by his initiative, Chef Hagi was invited to kitchens like the presidential Elysee Palace in Paris and was recently invited to Europe by the Club des Chefs. He has also cooked with Chef Thierry Marx at two Michelin starred restaurant, Sur Mesure at Madarin Oriental Hotel. What Chef Hagi is doing, is truly commendable.
