The Impact of Digitalization in our Food

Have you ever thought about how your food is made?
With the advancement of technology, it is no surprise that food producers, distributors and restaurants are utilizing digitalization to improve the standards and quality of both ingredients to service.
Panasonic Factory Solutions Asia Pacific operates an indoor farm that uses a process automation system: an auto-seeding machine, potting, washing and an irrigation system. Through this technology, Panasonic is able to control the size, texture and even the colour of the produce. The produce, unlike traditional farming, is grown on shelves with LED lights. A farmer, dressed cleanroom attire, will check on the crops daily, and ensure that each plant is growing at uniform rate in order to prevent overcrowding. Panasonic currently supplies several restaurants in Singapore with its produce, and their customers have all been very satisfied with the cleanliness and quality of the produce.
Meanwhile, Zeemart is a procurement app made for the food & beverage industry, and is responsible for bridging communication between chefs and suppliers. The app was was invented to help restaurants’ back-of-house stay organized, with restaurant owners able to track their spending and orders, preventing the restaurants from closing quickly. The app currently serves several restaurants in Singapore to manage their orders and deliveries efficiently.
