The World’s 50 Best Restaurants announces that Ristorante Lido 84, of Northern Italy, has been named this year’s Miele One To Watch. This award means that the restaurant will be recognized internationally for their quality cuisine, and their elite community, and anticipate the restaurant to build an international reputation for its quality cuisine.
The restaurant, situated on the Western shores of Lake Garda, in Gardone Riviera, is run by Chef Riccardo Camanini and his brother Giancarlo Camanini, both who own and run the restaurant. Built from a retro ‘lido’, or outdoor swimming pool, the area was owned by an elderly lady and
her family, and the brothers, who wanted to pay homage to the site's heritage, made a few changes to the original building, using the colours of the lake as inspiration for the interior design. The dishes themselves take inspiration from the surrounding landscape of Lake Garda, including raw mountain milk used to produce Fior Di Latte ice cream, Bagòss cheese for tortellini dishes, pike from Lake Garda, eel, olive oil, lemons and wisteria flowers from the hills for the desserts.
When asked, both Chef Riccardo and Giancarlo expressed their surprise at the recognition. Chef Riccardo commented,“We are extremely surprised and didn’t expect such a desirable recognition on an international level.” Giancarlo adds: “To be placed alongside those that represent the best in international gastronomic excellence has left us speechless.”
Both brothers will be receiving the prestigious award at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 awards ceremony at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on 25 June.
