Yan Can Taste The Dream

Exclusive, renowned chef-curated menus are not only exclusive to restaurants on land, as luxury Asian cruise line World Dream is taking on the challenge by introducing the ‘Taste the Dream’ programme on board. The idea: eating haute cuisine on board, with a menu conceptualised by a renowned celebrity chef. That’s what Genting Cruises wants to promote, with a new programme never attempted before by other cruise liners.
Known as ‘Taste the Dream-Wine and Dine At Sea’, it’s touted as a culinary extravaganza featuring six Asia-based celebrity chefs designing distinctive menus and showcasing their creations throughout the two months. Guests who purchase tickets for this event can enjoy a two-night weekend stay in a suite package, try the limited-edition tasting menus on the World Dream, and have the chance to meet the featured chefs on deck. These chefs are also available for interactive programs which showcase their strengths in producing multiple distinct gastronomic experiences on board.
The featured chefs are nothing to sniff at either: for 2018, they ended off the programme with guest Chef Martin Yan, of cooking show ‘Yan Can Cook’ fame. Joining him on the program was Chef Hilda Chan, Asian Ambassador of Escoffier International Asia, to help with the menus, including a ‘4-Hand’ as well as an exclusive ‘Chef’s Table’ menu.
Chef Yan and Chef Chan are the first chef duo working on the menus on the World Dream cruise alongside with the team of talented chefs in the kitchens on board. Fortunately for guests on the World Dream Cruise, this isn’t the first time both chefs are collaborating on a culinary event together. Chef Yan and Chef Chan are familiar with each other’s style. “I’m really glad I’ve had the chance to work with Chef Yan.” Chef Chan says. “I’ve actually learnt a lot more about Chinese cuisine with him. I go to (Chinese) restaurants a lot but to cook it is a different story, so I’m really looking forward to working on more collaboration with a Chinese twist.”
