Nestled in a secluded corner of Telok Ayer, an area popular with locals for the multiple drinking and eating establishments, Caffé B is a bar and dining restaurant that features Japanese-Italian cuisine at it’s finest. Previously at Marina Bay Sands, the restaurant is now located at a renovated shophouse at Club Street, 3 storeys high with the ground floor dedicated to their bar. Patrons can choose to have drinks and food on all three floors, though the second and third floor offer more intimacy and comfort for bigger groups or those looking to celebrate occasions like dates or anniversaries.
Dining patrons should never feel disappointed when traveling to an upscale dining establishment for dinner, and they won’t at Caffé B, where they can choose between two menus for dinner: a four-course menu priced at $69++ and the chef’s omakase menu at $129++. Both menus offer fresh, delicious European cuisine with the delicate touches of Japanese influences, as can be seen from the amuse bouche from the omakase menu, Farmer’s Egg, served with sea urchin and caviar on the top the egg; and the starter from the four-course menu, Salmon Bruschetta served Japanese fisherman’s style, Salmon Tartare and Roe with fresh yuzu zest and nasturtium leaf, served on tapioca crackers.

Japanese seafood lovers would not be disappointed by the freshness of the seafood that Chef Saito uses, as dishes such as the handmade squid ink Tagliolini and the homemade Orchetti pasta highlight these ingredients to full effect. The Hokkaido sea urchin and Vongole clams, which went with the squid ink Tagliolini brought out elements of the pasta to full effect, and the richness of the unagi used went well with the broth of the Orchetti pasta.

Meat lovers will not be disappointed either as the meat main courses are sliced and cooked to a tender finish, and the buttery taste of the beef, paired with the balsamic vinegar and roasted vegetables, makes for a satisfying, warm main course.

Caffé B ultimately serves quality Japanese-Italian cuisine for those looking for quality ingredients in dishes combined with a romantic, relaxed atmosphere that would work for a variety of special occasions.
