Dock To Dish

How do we work on making our seafood supply more sustainable, yet fresh and healthy? Initiatives such as Dock to Dish might help.
The program is a supply-driven, community-based, “3P” seafood sourcing program that provides direct “dock” access connecting small-scale fisheries to their nearest regional communities in sustainable seafood sourcing cooperatives. Participating chefs and seafood consumers are at an advantage because this model connects seafood consumers to the fishermen more directly, cutting out the middleman that current fishing industry practices need.
The United Nations Foundation has designated the Dock to Dish community and restaurant supported fishery model as one of 14 breakthrough technologies and businesses that can save the oceans, and the program is so far making waves amongst several areas in North America, with partnerships happening in Nicaragua, Fiji and Costa Rica as well.
