Dig Into This Year's Michelin Star Revelation Gala Dinner!

@ 27 Jul 2018
There might've been a cloud of disappointment floating around from the lack of 3 Michelin starred restaurants in this year's Michelin Guide Singapore, but there were still a lot of happy faces amongst the crowd of stars, professionals and ardent fans gathered at the Michelin Star Revelation and Gala Dinner on Wednesday. 5 new restaurants were given their first star, the powerhouse team of 2-star restaurants all managed to keep theirs, and the mood, though pegged with slight frustrations, was jovial and celebratory. We can only look to next year for more gastronomy goodness from our chef maestros in the industry!
In case you missed it, here's the full list of Michelin star recipients.

We also managed to catch some of the recipients in the middle of their celebrations!
Here's the man behind Waku Ghin, who last year was bumped up to two Michelin stars and has kept his two stars for the second year running in the 2018 edition of the Michelin Guide Singapore. Chef Tetsuya Wakuda might have earned his stars but he remains humble and truly down-to-earth as we can see in this short interview. We also hear his opinion as to why an increasing number of Japanese restaurants are winning the hearts of the Michelin inspectors to be placed on list.
We caught the brilliant Chef Kirk Westaway for this small chat on his and his team’s achievements for this Michelin year.
No three Michelin stars for Chef Julien Royer? Well, the man is certainly not fazed, he's just going to continue what he and the Odette team does best - producing one of the best food experiences in this country!
Chef Ivan Brehm of Restaurant Nouri, first time on the Michelin Star list, and Chef Beppe De Vito of Braci were in the middle of their celebration of their one michelin star achievements. They stopped to speak with us; we take our hats off to Chef Ivan for being more worried about his mise en place for tomorrow’s lunch than the next michelin inspection!
At Ma Cuisine, also a first-time entrant into the Michelin Guide, the wines tell the stories, but with an incredible menu to match it's no surprise that the gastro-bar has been newly minted with one Michelin star, congratulations to owners Chef Mathieu and sommelier Anthony!
As the only Peranakan Chef in the Michelin guide, Chef Malcolm Lee has got his work cut out for him. Luckily, he's got a world-class team backing him up. Congratulations to Candlenut for keeping their star!
Chef Manju's smile can't get any bigger - we pull the humble head chef of the only Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Singapore to get his thoughts on Indian cuisine and it's place in the guide.
