Deepavali and Mithai At The Song Of India

Traditionally, Mithai-giving is a sign of strengthening friendship and a gesture of goodwill towards others. These unique Mithai gift boxes have been a signature at The Song of India for the past decade, and have built a strong following with their offering of handcrafted goodness, using only premium quality ingredients carefully sourced from India and other countries.
Created by Chef Manjunath Mural and his team, the signature three flavours of mithai are always a must: the Alphonso Mango Burfi is made with Alphonso mango pulp flown in from Ratnagiri, India, a region known to be the home for the ‘King of Mangoes’. The tropical flavours of the mango are combined with decadent white chocolate and gilded with precious silver. For those who enjoy hints of floral, the Rose Gulkhand Roll specially uses rose petal preserve flown in from Lucknow, India, celebrated for its pure, rose flavours. Crafted into rose-hued swirls in cashew rolls, these are always a hot favourite. For those who prefer natural and low sugar, the Figs and Dry Fruit Burfi are made using figs from Iran and dates from Egypt, mixed with a medley of cashews, almonds and pistachios.
Each year, the team also creates 3 new limited edition flavours. This year, the flavours are: Gula Melaka & Feuillantine Sensation, a tribute to the local palate, using gula melaka, nutty feuillantine and melon seeds – infused with saffron, one of the world’s most expensive spices.
Says Chef Manjunath Mural, Executive Chef, “Deepavali is always a huge event at The Song of India. We believe in celebrating tradition and culture, which is why we source for the best ingredients and make everything from scratch here in our restaurant.”
The mithai selections are available in various gift boxes, starting with $45++ (for a variety of 3 selections of 15 sweets) to $125++ (30 sweets paired with award-winning La Spinetta Moscato d’Asti).
At The Song of India, guests can also feast on familiar favourites, as well as a special Deepavali menu this festival.
The Special Celebratory degustation menu features local flavours with dishes such as Char grilled Laksa Chicken Kebab and Sambal Barramundi Tikka. It also pays tribute to Indian traditional roots, with dishes such as Nargisi Quail Egg Kofta (minced mutton stuffed quail’s egg served with a robust spice infused sauce), Manglorian Gassi (tiger prawns cooked in coconut gassi sauce), Murg Malai Khumb (chicken roulade stuffed with a cheesy mushroom in lazeez sauce), and Kashmiri Nadru (young lotus root cooked in a coriander and mint cashew sauce).
This special menu is available from 18th October to 22nd October & is priced at $79++. A delectable vegetarian version is also available.
