Japanese beverage giant Suntory recently acquired the bourbon maker Jim Beam in a $16million deal. Bourbon, an alcoholic drink with strong roots in Kentucky … There were initial fears that the Japanese company would start to alter the traditional process of fabrication or replace the current management. However, Suntory has clarified that none of this will happen. As Carla Carlton, a writer for the Bourbon Review said, “Bourbon is very much an American product and it must be by law, so it will still be made here in Kentucky.” She also urged people to see it as an investment in Kentucky rather than a hostile takeover.
