Cutting Edge Technology In Food

More and more aspects of food production are being mechanised or computerised but mostly with regards to sorting, packaging and cooking large amounts. The art of cooking individual meals and producing aesthetically pleasing dishes still remains very much in the hands of chefs. However, a new 3D printer from 3D Systems in South Carolina is the first step to changing that. Their 3D printer called ChefJet is the first 3D printer to be restaurant-grade certified, meaning that it can be used in restaurants to prepare food. Though the printer’s abilities are limited to shaping chocolate and sugar candies, and the samples the company gave out at its unveiling were not great, this technology may find increasing application in restaurants in the future.
