Asia-Pacific has had many great hoteliers, and one of the most prominent ones has unfortunately left us. Rudiger Robert Köppen has departed from his loved ones at the age of 80 after esophageal cancer surgery. The traditional German gentleman was the first general manager of Holiday Inn chain’s first hotel in Hong Kong, the Holiday Inn Golden Mile, which opened in 1974. He has shaped numerous careers and built upon the lives of many.
