Asia’s Best Sommelier in French Wines 2016 announced The 2nd Asia Best Sommelier Competition in French Wines 2016 took place in December 2016 at Caravelle Saigon, Vietnam.
 
At the semi-finals, 17 candidates went through seven different workshops, testing their skills in wine, spirits, wine glasses, food, wine pairings and their behaviour towards customers. It was then followed by a questionnaire about French wines and a written test on Provence with a blind tasting of a Provence rosé wine and a red wine.
 

The final of the Asia Best Sommelier Competition in French Wines 2016 took place in the afternoon of December 8 with three candidates, Nguyen Thanh Dung from Vietnam, Carlos Chen from Taiwan an Britt Ng from Malaysia.
 

Mr. Britt Ng, a Malaysian and a sommelier at Bread Street Kitchen in Singapore, finally emerged as the winner. He is a certified sommelier by the Court of Masters Sommeliers and a Certified Specialist of Wine by the Society of Wine Educator USA.
 

Second runner-up is Thanh Duong Nguyen from Vietnam. She studied at Swiss Hotel Management School and owns a Master degree in Wine Marketing and Management of INSEEC Bordeaux.
