Singapore Culinary Team’s Final Cold Display Practice

by Darinee Durai @ 20 Oct 2016
Singapore Culinary Team’s Final Cold Display Practice We joined the National Culinary Team last week for their final practice session. Preparing for the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany this October, the team has spent countless hours perfecting their techniques and skills.

During the media session,– Chef Eric Teo talked us through the intricate complexions involved in the plating systems and what the critical judges would keep an eye out for.

Singapore has a reputation for winning international culinary competitions. During the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg two years ago, they hit a home run (by winning three times in a row). At the Culinary Olympics, they were the 1st runner up in the year 2000, which was the last time they competed.
At the same time, the Singapore National Junior Culinary Team also practiced for the Alen Thong Golden Pot Young Chefs Competition in December.
“Our dream is to really have the Singapore public understand and appreciate what we have achieved for the Singapore culinary scene, when it comes to competitions.  It is not fame that we want, but if Singapore appreciates athletic sportsmen, we hope they will also come to see what the chefs have accomplished in the last 30 years too.”
