The relatively young island nation of Singapore has often found it difficult to find an identity of its own due to its diverse populace and mix of cultures. However, one thing that binds all Singaporeans together is their love for food. In a new television series called “A Taste of History”, host Bryan Wong goes around Singapore seeking answers for questions regarding the origins and significance of iconic Singapore dishes. In doing so, he hopes that people watching the show will also learn about Singapore’s history through the food. His experiences in recording the show have also lead him to go meet many interesting characters and reminded him of the significance of food, even in his own personal life. Singaporeans will delight in finding out more about their own hawker favourites as well. “A Taste Of History” shows every Tuesday at 8.30pm on Channel U from 7th January onwards.
