French Chef of L’Ami Jean restaurant in Paris s join by Chef Mohammad El Khaldy from Damascus in Syria. The duo are part of Refugees food festival, a weeklong event in June that brings Chef from the city and refugee chefs together for an exchange of gastronomy and culture. Such a move not only introduces diners to a new cuisine and culture, it allows them to understand Europe’s refugee crisis from a different perspective.
Though they do not speak a common language, they are able to communicate through food. On the Syrian-French menu at L'Ami Jean: quail with freekeh, Syrian summer durum wheat.
