June marks a very important month for fine-dining restaurants, top chefs, and food lovers around the world as two prestigious awards took place and commended the best in the industry.
World’s 50 Best Restaurants
On Monday, 13 June 2016, the annual World's 50 Best Restaurant Awards list that celebrates the best in the culinary landscape was annouced. The first Italian restaurant that claimed the top spot was Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy and second was El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain. Pierre Herme was awarded The World's Best Pastry Chef 2016 while Dominique Crenn was named the World's Best Female Chef 2016. Next year, the prestigious awards ceremony will be held in Australia as annouced by William Drew, Group Editor of the World's 50 Best Restaurants.

G Restaurant Awards
Closer to home, G Restaurant Awards 2016 by The Peak Singapore's Gourmet & Travel magazine was held at InterContiental Singapore on Monday, 13 June 2016. 53 awards were given out and close to 300 guests graced the ceremony. Restaurant of The Year title was awarded to
Corner House, Best New Restaurant was awarded to
National Kitchen by Violet Oon, and
Osteria Art was given Best Business Lunch (Western).
