What Will Our 2014 Food Trend Be?

As we prepare to bid year 2013 goodbye and sum up our memories, we can’t help but look at the future of F&B being in the industry. India has its own set of F&B trend for year 2014 available at http://www.dnaindia.com/lifestyle/report-7-food-trends-we-want-to-see-in-2014-1941660. Perhaps due to the regional and culture differences, what they expect may not be what we will be expecting. Some that we think may be applicable could be the points on restaurant employees being gross on social media and fast food chains jumping on the health wagon. As technology advances, it is no doubt that youngsters would demonstrate their flair of language via such vacuum. Just like the previous news on McDonald’s. With diners watching their diets, going ‘clean’ could be another trend. Maybe we can look forward to more vegetarian joints or salads joints in town. There have been some F&B phenomenon seen in year 2013 like cafés, pop-up food extravaganza, and more emphasis placed on the younger generation taking over hawker stalls with passion. Will we see more of those in year 2014? Do we still want to see those? Also, celebrity chefs are looking at targeting the Singapore market with the opening of Jamie Oliver’s Italian and all. Do we still want such restaurants where standards may not be what we expect to get? We do hope that owners and chefs will come up with something to wow us in the new year, with plans of our own to wow the industry once more.
