20 Things That Sizzle At This Year’s WGS Here is a list of things that would sizzle at this year's highly-anticipated World Gourmet Summit.

1) International Love
Chef Wan, Chris Donnellan, Meir Adoni, Petty Elliott and Reto Mathis are among some of the international masterchefs who would be gracing this year’s WGS. They would be showcasing their culinary finesse and satiating your appetite. It will be an amazing dining experience that will leave you talking about it for days.

2) Singapore’s Treasures
The participation of Singapore’s culinary talents is of course necessary in this yearly affair. WGS brings you the best restaurants and chefs who have placed Singapore on a global culinary map. These include Chef Daniel Sia of The Disgruntled Chef, Chef Christopher Millar of Stallar 1-Altitude, Chef Jet Lo of Ding Dong, Chef Julien Royer of Odette, and more.

3) Michelin-starred Chefs
It’s not easy being a chef, and especially a Michelin-starred one. This year, we bring you five Michelin-starred chefs: Arnaud Bignon of Greenhouse; Javier Aranda of La Cabra; Nacho Manzano of Iberica; Takagi Kazuo of Kyoto cuisine Takagi; and Yoshinori Ishii of Umu. Get ready to indulge in rarefied glorious dishes and we promise you it’ll be a delicious experience, but not a slimming one.

4) The Chosen Ones
Special guests chosen will come together in the name of good food include violinist maestro Lynette Seah, mixologist Diego Cabrera, former president of American Meat Science Association Dr Chris Calkins, sake maker Hiroshi Inoue; professional olive oil taster, Ellen Wu; and oenophile Patrick Dowling.

5) The Mamas Are Here
There is some things money can buy and that is a home-cooked food whipped out by three mamas from the Liguria region. Mrs Giovanna Randone, Mrs Gianna Fossati and Mrs Maria Teresa Biovi will prepare a simple rustic Ligurian cuisine for you to feel right at home. And this experience will be priceless. Priceless you hear us?

6) A Taste Of Israeli Cuisine
Ever wondered how does Israeli cuisine taste like? Now you can. For the first time in WGS history, we bring you Israeli Chef Meir Adoni. He would be cooking up a storm at The Disgruntled Chef at The Club and diners can expect authentic Israeli delights like Middle East hariri soup; bar fillet with sea mousse; and lamb chops with lemons and bharat.

7) Win Big Or Go Home
We don’t just want you to win in life; we also want you to win big when you’re part of WGS. This is why we’re giving you a chance to win non-edible goodies. Keep a lookout for big fantastic giveaways by some of our partners, Air France, Luzerne and Gourmet Trails. The prizes include gourmet trips to the land of the rising sun (Tokyo) and to the land of cheese and wine (France).

8) Excellent Establishments
The dining establishments participating in this year’s WGS are all among the very best we have in our city. With impeccable food and service in an elegant setting, what else do you really need? Okay, perhaps a companion. That we can’t quite help, sorry.

9) Kids Can Cook, You Can Too
If kids at the age of 11 can flip chops and grill steak to perfection, it’s time you as an adult do better. With a plethora of masterclasses and workshops available, you can get hands-on tips and culinary insights from masterchefs.

10) Step Up At The Streets
Ring the alarm, the streets is calling. Make your way to Hong Kong Street as a party will be held on 3 April, Sunday. Establishments you love – Bacchanalia, Vasco, FOC, 28HKS and The Butchers Club – will come together to breathe life to the back alley lane.

11) Time To Jam
On 16 and 17 April 2016, a WGS signature event titled WGS Jam session, will feature 20 of the best culinary talents. They will come together to discuss about trends in the F&B scene and prepare great eats for you at a ‘live’ Miele kitchen.

12) Vroom Your Way To Gourmet Safari
In collaboration with Travels With Samadhi, put that helmet and leather jacket on, and get ready for Bikers’ Gourmet Safari on 23 – 24 April. This will take you to the states of Johor and Melaka and includes a 1 night stay at The Majestic Hotel, Malacca; breakfast; and a royal Thai dinner in Tamarind Hill.

13) Nothing But The Best
Courtesy of our sponsors like Indoguna, S.Pellegrino, Classic Fine Foods, Kuhlbarra, Scotland, Lee Kum Kee and more, dishes spun out for you are created using the best ingredients. The next important thing for a spectacular dish to be made is that the chef needs to know how to coax out the best flavour and texture - that my friend, you certainly don’t have to worry about that.

14) For A Good Cause
In celebration of WGS’s first year partnership with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), a “Mindful Eating” charity gala dinner will be held. An auction will be carried out and all proceeds will go to NKF.

15) Special Menus, Especially For You
Skip the calorie count. Skip the everyday menu. Yawn. Try something different at your favourite dining establishments. Order the WGS specially curated menu, especially just for you, the WGS ticket holder. You will get to feast on exquisite dishes that regular patrons don’t. You know why? Because you’re special. Because you’re a WGS ticket holder.

16) Social Media-worthy Photos
Think about the renowned chefs you can request for a photo with. Think about how many beautiful (and delicious) plates you’ll get to photograph. Think about how many likes you can garner. Think about the wonderful comments you get from your readers. Think about how this is going to boost your social media presence.

17) A Global Offering
Some days, you feel like having Japanese cuisine. Other days, you feel like having either Spanish or French. At WGS, we spoil you with choices as we have Scottish, Indian and Asian cuisines. Take your pick.

18) A Treat Of A Lifetime
For 20 years, the team at WGS lives, eats and breathes on the motto: fine cuisine, great wines and unique dining. Without a doubt, this is certainly what you can expect at every event.

19) Exclusive Prices
We know how much you love the Great Singapore Sale, discounts and exclusive prices. You say cheap cheap and we hear that chirp. At WGS, you get 10% - 15% off when you pay with your UOB Cards at selected partner restaurants and hosted establishments.

20) Mark The Milestone With Us
Peter Knipp, who manages and curates the WGS event, has mentioned that this will be the last year WGS will be held in this format. This is your last chance to mark this milestone with us before WGS 2.0 steps in.
