Donate CNY Goodies With Respect

Donate CNY Goodies With Respect Since last year, The Food Bank Singapore which started in 2012, would distribute Chinese New Year goodies to the needy. Although donations are flowing in, the problem is that there are donated items found unfit for consumption as they have been either resealed or half-eaten. The charity’s co-founder, Ms Nicholas Ng, shared that once goodies have been opened, they are unable to redistribute them. She also urged donors to respect the beneficiaries.

Aside from helping out the needy, the charity also conducts talks to schools and businesses to educate them on food wastage. Over the past 10 years, food wastage has increased by about 48 per cent, and in 2014, 788,600 tonnes of food had gone to waste. Learn more here: http://bit.ly/1TvTZaE
