World Gourmet Summit is Voted Best Food Event of the Year! According to readers of I-S Magazine, World Gourmet Summit is the Best Food Event of the Year, in its latest Readers’ Choice Awards. Held from 16 – 26 April, the event, in its 17th edition, delighted 20,380 guests with its range of 55 events held at 13 different venue hosts and 18 partner restaurants. The year’s theme of “Artisans & The Art Of Dining” saw 25 chefs and special guests with an aggregate of nine Michelin stars and three chef hats. A highlight is the Citibank Gastronomic Jam Sessions, which saw close to 300 attendees. Guests got to glean valuable insights from world-renowned chefs such as master chocolatier and pastry chef Paco Torreblanca, three-Michelin-starred French Chef Yannick Alléno, enthusiastic Italian rice ambassador Chef Gabriele Ferron, and the humourous Chef David Senia of Capella Singapore.

The event also did its part for charity, raising S$551,888 for more than 80 charities under the Community Chest during the annual World Gourmet Summit Charity Dinner, held at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. Over at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, 460 bottles of champagnes were opened at the Sabre d’Or Singapour dinner, where 300 diners enjoyed the cuisine of chefs Massimo Pasquarelli, Corrado Assenza and Lino Sauro. The event also seeks to sow into the lives of young chefs through the first ever Meat & Livestock Australia Youth Chefs’ Day. Déliciae Hospitality Management founder Olivier Bendel, Ernest Huber of Huber’s Butchery and Coffex Coffee baristas shared with close to 300 culinary students their experience and practical tips. This year also saw the first ever edible fashion show and chocolate dinner in Singapore, with models dressed in Hearts On Fire jewellery and chocolate designs crafted by masterchefs Paco and Jacob Torreblanca. Ladies who love their perfumes were also treated to a delightful evening with perfumer Roja Dove, who, along with David Cox, Director of Fine & Rare Whiskies at The Macallan, presented a sensory experience with whisky. Eighteen partner restaurants, such as Tatsuya Japanese Restaurant, Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant, OSO Ristorante, and Le Bistrot du Sommelier, created special menus for guests to enjoy. Wine lovers also got to sample beautiful offerings from wineries such as Beringer, Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, Famille Perrin, Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, Isole e Olena, La Maison Penet, Maison Roche de Bellene, and Majella Wines.

Peter A. Knipp, CEO of Peter Knipp Holding Pte Ltd, co-founder and creative force behind the World Gourmet Summit, said, “On behalf of the team, we would like to thank the public and readers of I-S magazine for the recognition of World Gourmet Summit as the leading gastronomic experience provider.”
