This 420-page compendium, written by Elliot Faber – a Certified Sommelier, Advanced Sake Professional, Contributing Editor to JamesSuckling.com, and Beverage Director for Yardbird, Rōnin, and Sunday's Grocery in Hong Kong – serves as a guide to Japan’s generational sake and highlights artisanal alternatives to the popular mainstream offerings. Featuring 75 breweries, each profile was based on interviews with the families who have dedicated their lives to brewing. Hayato Hishinumaa, a Sake Service Institute (SSI)-certified Master of Sake and holder of an SSI-Higher Certificate of Sake and Shōchū Education, who has certified over 100 SSI Sake or Shōchū Navigators – conducted interviews and wrote the brewery profiles.
