Despite the criticism showered upon it by animal rights activists for its controversial methods of farming, foie gras has remained a widely enjoyed delicacy. Top restaurants around the world continue to serve it and come up with new dishes for the intensely flavoured liver. The act of force-feeding the geese or ducks just prior to their slaughter is the controversial process that has repeatedly come under fire for being inhumane due to the liver damage it causes in the birds.
