The spotlight will be on Singapore's vibrant culinary culture as the city makes its mark at the San Sebastian Gastronomika – Euskadi Basque Country 2015 for the first time. The 17th edition of the one of the world's leading annual gastronomy congress will be held from 4 – 7 October, and is featuring Singapore as a guest city.
"San Sebastian Gastronomika-Euskadi basque Country dedicates its 2015 edition to Singapore, the new and exciting Gastronomic Asian hub which showcases the most contemporary trends in urban and creative fusion food," said Ms Roser Torras, Director of San Sebastian Gastronomika (SSG). This is the first time that an unprecedented 12 of Singapore's acclaimed chefs, such as Andre Chiang, Ryan Clift, Malcolm Lee, Jet Lo and Justin Quek, will represent the metropolis and Asia through various dining presentations. Comprising a Congress, Street Food Market, and Trade Fair, SSG 2015 is expected to attract more than 12,000 visitors and delegates from around the world.
Ms Ranita Sundramoorthy, Director of Attractions, Dining and Retail, Singapore Tourism Board (STB), said, "STB is proud to partner Grup Gsr to present Singapore's top culinary talents at SSG 2015. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to profile our local dining scene on the world stage, and celebrate how our culinary culture has evolved over the past 50 years to become what is today an exhilarating mix of contemporary street food and haute cuisine."
