After several months of analysis by the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Bordeaux wines have received approval to be protected as a Geographical Indication within China. It is the hope of Bordeaux wine producers that this new status would grant them additional protection against forgery and brand-squatting, which have been long-standing concerns in the Chinese wine market.
