Singaporean hospitality legend, Pakir Singh, passes away

Hailed as the father of Singapore's hospitality education, Pakir Singh passes away on Wednesday morning after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. The man behind the creation of the Singapore Hotel Association Training & Education Centre (SHATEC), which caused the creation of dozens of other hospitality schools in the region, Mr Singh also served as the CEO of Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) and CEO of SHATEC from 1979 to 2005 and the secretary-general of the ASEAN Tourism Association.
