New gadget claims to be able to remove sulphites from wine

Brewed for an Artic expedition led by Sir George Nares in 1875, a 140 year-old bottle of the aptly-named Allsopp’s Arctic Ale has been sold for $5,131 USD to a private collector, after it was recently unearthed from a garage. According to Aaron Dean, partner of the auction house Trevanion & Dean, they expected the bottle to fetch only about $933 USD, and were mystified by the incredible response from the internet when the bottle went up for sale.
