Despite complaints of retail stores being shorthanded due to the younger generation asking for more pay in return for the long hours, the service industry is seeing positive feedback. However, locals are not as satisfied with the service received as compared to tourists. According to Singapore Management University’s Institute of Service Excellence (ISES), customer satisfaction with the tourism and food and beverage sectors rose to new heights, scoring 70.3 out of 100 on the Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore as compared to 67.7 points last year. When there’s a will, there is a way. With the right people working in the sector, and the right attitude, customers will all walk out with a smile.
