Come, Let Us Unite: 7 Things to do this National Day Some take advantage of the fireworks on National Day for a proposal; others see it as simply a time to get together with family. Cuisine & Wine Asia brings you some ideas of where to spend your time this long weekend.

Watch the fireworks from at Stellar at 1-Altitude, and enjoy dishes such as hand-rolled truffle gnocchi with asparagus, porcini ravioli, Hokkaido scallop in handmade pasta, bone marrow with braised and deep-fried pork trotters, and flambé meringue crème brûlée.

Visit the world’s largest aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa, and follow that with a dinner at TungLok Heen, which is known for dishes such as chilled crab meat with caviar and mirin, Teowchew-style stewed pomfret, double-boiled Kampong chicken, pan-seared Kurobuta pork loin in Mao Tai liquor, Kagoshima wagyu beef with porcini mushrooms, and chilled avocado with chrysanthemum and vanilla ice cream.

Over at The Knolls, Capella Singapore, Chef David Senia has put together a National Day Sunday Brunch, offering dishes such as French chicken rice with truffles, black pepper crab, live oyster station, and classic oyster omelette, with freely-flowing champagne.

Back across the Sentosa Gateway at Street 50 Restaurant & Bar, you can savour a local take on the crustacean of choice when it comes to celebrations - black pepper lobster - at S$48 each.

Orchard Hotel’s Orchard Café is offering a Straits Chinese buffet priced at S$4.80 for every second diner who turns up in red. Some local favourites on offer include stir-fried black carrot cake, oyster omelette, satay bakar, bak kut teh, char kway teow, stir-fried Hokkien prawn noodles, and sambal stingray with cincalok. There are also local desserts such as pisang pengat, chendol panna cotta, and durian pengat.

If drinks are what you are looking for, drop by Fordham & Grand, which is offering S$6 cocktails from 10:30pm onwards.

For wine lovers, check out the selection of red wines from Bordeaux and Châteauneuf-du-Pape and whites from Burgundy and the Loire Valley on discount at eWineAsia; you will even receive a complimentary half bottle of Delamotte Champagne with orders of over S$200. Here’s to festive feasting for you and your loved ones!
