The Beauty of Mie Prefecture and Its Ingredients!
Mie Prefecture, Japan, is bringing in premium ingredients as part of a special showcase. Collaborating with Italian restaurant Gary’s to create a special menu to highlight the taste and versatility of the ingredients, it is easy to see just how Mie Prefecture’s ingredients are not only used extensively in Japanese food but in French and Italian cuisines as well.
Located in the Kansai region of Honshu, Mie Prefecture is surrounded by abundant nature including seas and mountains. As such, it has a thriving agriculture and fishing industry. The prefecture is also a tourist attraction, with popular destinations such as Ise Jingu, Iga Ueno Castle, Futamiura Park, and the ancient pilgrimage trail Kumano Kodo.
This includes not just great produce from their thriving and fishing industry, but also miso, especially spicy Machiya Miso, which is versatile in many ways, including being used as a convenient marinade substitute for pork, seafood and fish. Chef Gary Wu uses the miso to create memorable dishes including Mie Spicy Miso Cod Fish and Mie Spicy Miso Pork Tomahawk.
The two menu items will be available till 15 November 2022.
