As with the author, the name ‘giardiniera’ has not crossed our minds. With its origins from Italy, the term refers to simply pickled vegetables in vinegar or oil. Used in Chicago, giardiniera serves as a condiment for their cuisine and can be found usually in Italian beef sandwiches. The author has since fell in love with this condiment after moving into Chicago. He has dropped by a couple of grocery stores in search of the best of these sauces and although they taste more or less the same, without any that taste awfully bad, he has picked out his top 3. The first, Bunyons hot giardiniera, followed by Victoria Brand hot giardiniera and finally Potbelly Brand hot peppers.
