A Reverie At Kreta Ayer
There’s a new restaurant that’s entered the bustling area of Chinatown and Outram Park, and that’s Rêve, the French – Japanese restaurant that aims to push forth a new agenda: For you to dine and have a calm, happy time.
Nestled away from the busy streets that line up and down the road, the restaurant is the new destination to dine at with the intimacy of a clandestine affair that’s also elegant and intimate.It’s great for a variety of occasions, such as corporate lunches, romantic dinners, and special occasions. And the team, attentive and warm, is led by Executive Chef Kawano Masahiko, an award recipient of the highly acclaimed Taki Hisao prize by Japan’s RED-U-35.
Enjoy the menu that Chef Masahiko sets in front of you, made by a chef skilled in French cooking but whose identity is so Japanese it seeps into everything he makes. Savour and delight in the culinary creations which combines traditional Japanese ingredients with French cuisine. It also makes use of local ingredients and flavours, turning it into something wholly new and exciting. Dishes such as Pigeon, which makes use of miso in a glaze, and Duck Somen, with a stock made using duck meat. The result is a soup broth that’s flavoured so well it seeps into the noodle strands.
“Really happy to be among the first customers of this new French-Japanese fusion restaurant in the Keong Saik / Duxton enclave,” says customer Paul Liu, in a review. “Solid execution by Chef Kawano in bringing out the best of fresh ingredients with French cooking techniques, Japanese attention to detail, and a lot of umami flavors that delight your taste buds.”
The opening of the restaurant, which saw guests venturing for the first time, was a success, selling out, and full of praise amongst diners. Much of the event saw beaming smiles and people booking slots for more. It’s clearly a restaurant not to be missed!
