Just recently, we have had the Spanish Flavours exhibition in Singapore and now, we are getting news that wines from Spain are gaining a footing in the China wine market. Did we miss out a good chance to get some of these wines to be distributed in Singapore? With the Chinese getting more and more knowledgeable on wines, they are looking for wines far more than just from France. It was reported that the exports of Spanish wines have surged 40 percent in the first half of the year. It is a good time to venture into the Chinese market with an advantage over price when Spanish top wines may cost about US$260 as compared to that of a French vintage that may go up to US$390. Perhaps it is high time we look at Spanish wines again in a different light.
