Singapore did well this year during Asia’s 50 Best, having 8 restaurants place in the top 50 rankings as announced yesterday. It is the third country within Asia with the most restaurant placements in the ranks, with Hong Kong having the most with 11 restaurants followed closely by Japan with nine.
Hong Kong restaurant The Chairman took top honours at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 awards ceremony, as well as The Best Restaurant in China. Odette, which held the ranking of No 1 for two consecutive years, moved to No 2 this year, while retaining the title of The Best Restaurant in Singapore. Japan’s Den attained third in the rankings, which meant it has won the title of The Best Restaurant in Japan for a fourth successive year.
The results were announced via a virtual ceremony today (Mar 25) and streamed to a global audience.
Now in its ninth edition, the 2021 list boasted 11 first-time entries, including a new restaurant in Vietnam – a country last represented in the list in 2013, and two re-entries.
