The Strange Case of Jekyll and Hyde's Newest Incarnation!
Jekyll and Hyde’s newest incarnation appears at 74 Neil Road, where much of the charm is the new neo-European elements as well as a new food menu that showcases the best of Mod-Sin in elevated bar bites.
This is one of the newer additions to Jekyll and Hyde, one of Singapore’s pioneering cocktail bars, that has risen from the ashes of 2020’s Covid-19 Circuit Breaker measures, and shows the best of what the bar has to offer, now in a two-level shophouse that houses the bar area on the second floor and alfresco dining in the courtyard.
With Head Bartender Michael Foong heading the newest Volume 2.5 menu, and new Chef Alvin Tan (formerly of Shanghai Dolly and Straits Clan) helming the kitchens, the combination of great drinks and innovative takes on local food is something that is sure to bring out the best of what there is to offer at the new Jekyll and Hyde.
For example, start your night off with simple bites for you to feel the last vestiges of your afternoon: the Peach Please! ($22+), made with dried mango Hendrick’s Gin, vine peach liqueur, lime juice, and egg white, and served in a teacup. It’s light, refreshing and would ease you out of your afternoon tea mood into a more boozy fun evening with your friends.
It also makes you feel a little more fancy as you ease into the meal times, where you can start with chilli Crab Nachos, with their signature dip made with deep sea wild crabmeat, Japanese ikura, homemade blended chilli made out fresh red chilli, dried chilli, onions, fermented soya bean, candlenut, tomato sauce and chilli sauce. It’s easily one of the more addictive food items on the menu, alongside the Fresh Orh Lua, a take of the popular oyster omelette made with Canadian oysters. Drinks, of course, are as creative as they come, using unconventional ingredients like bacon, peanut butter and jelly, and even bak kut teh!
