Singapore Chefs' Association is 35!
With the theme ‘Crazy Rich Chefs’, the Singapore Chefs' Association (SCA) celebrated its milestone with a gala dinner at Mandarin Orchard on Tuesday night.
The celebration kicked off with a speech by Chef Eric Neo – the president of SCA, who thanked partners for their support, and also spoke about SCA’s future competitions such as the Culinary Olympics in February 2020. The guest-of-honour of the night, Mr Chee Hong Tat, the Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Education, was also introduced by Chef Neo, before it was revealed that Mr Chee will be joining the association as its Honorary Patron – the first time that a minister has come on board SCA as an Honorary Patron.
Shortly after, the dinner started with a delectable selection of meat, vegetables, seafood and desserts. There was curry, laksa and even sushi – so guests and members of the association was spoiled for choice.
The national culinary team later spoke about its future events in the year 2020, which included exciting cook-offs to be held in different establishments across Singapore, and competitions such as the Culinary Olympics.
The night ended with the SCA committee chefs cutting the cake, and toasting to a fulfilling 35 years and a hopeful future ahead.
