Despite the common consensus in Tokyo’s image as an expensive tourism spot, hotel rates are quite modest compared to major American cities like New York and Boston. Even the Intercontinental Tokyo Bay most conveniently located near the 2020 Olympics will not hold a candle to New York, with the most expensive hotel rooms amongst major world city, ranking the world’s fourth most expensive destination for travellers.
