2016 Wine Harvest: Winegrowers are hopeful despite hailstorm The frost catastrophe in Austria last spring has left winegrowers in a rut. A small crop is expected, although there is a good crop of grapes growing on the vines in many regions.

The Austrian hail-insurance authorities have reported a total damage of to date at 2.5 million Euros. Winegrowers are now hoping for a dry and pleasant September so that the remaining grapes may reach full ripeness quicker while remaining healthy.
