Singaporean Wins Japanese Cuisine Competition Singaporean Chef Li Kwok Wing of Santaro @ Hinoki Restaurant won the inaugural Washoku World Challenge held in Tokyo. He beat nine other chefs from around the world to win the title, including another Singaporean Chef Mark Tay Kuan Jin. His dish of steamed chestnuts and pumpkin with whipped egg whites beat the other finalists in the competition to take home the grand prize. The dish judged by its flavour, aesthetics, originality and relevance to theme of healthy cooking came out tops.
