Wooloomooloo Steakhouse's New Surf & Turf Brunch Menu

by CWA @ 26 Dec 2018
Wooloomooloo Steakhouse's New Surf & Turf Brunch Menu Steak, it is a favourite of many and a delicacy for most. Ideal for any occasion, steak can be cooked to different gradiations of 'doneness' according to the consumer's preference. Wooloomooloo Steakhouse is known for their butter-like steak that melts in the mouth. The culinary team headed by Chef Dinesh Nagalingam, is dedicated in serving beef of premium quality, handpicking all the cuts and personally aging beef.

We headed down to Wooloomooloo Steakhouse at Swissotel The Stamford to try the new Surf & Turf Brunch Menu. The menu features an array of both seafood and meat, and marrying both to create a harmonious medley of flavours.

The highlight of the meal was the USDA Prime 6 oz Beef Rib Eye steak from the Surf & Turf at Wooloomooloo Steakhouse.Served with four homemade sauces - Red Wine Madeira, Au Jus, Peppercorn and Mushroom - along with the choice of four gourmet mustards - Dijon, English, Granary and Green Peppercorn - guests are spoilt for choice. Guests can also enjoy the steak fare along with sides such as the Baked Idaho Potatoes with all the trimmings, Lyonnaise Potatoes, Sauteed Onions, Steamed Broccoli, Creamy Corn, Sauteed Spinach and Mushrooms and Steamed or Grilled Asparagus.

We chose to have our steak with the Mushroom sauce and Dijon Mustard - as recommended by the waitress. The tender and moist meat was complemented with the Dijon Mustard for a slightly spicy bite. The steak was broiled to a medium rare, and the knife sliced through the meat like butter - a sign of a medium rare job well done. With each bite, there was a melt-in-the-mouth experience from the meat. We also had the grilled asparagus at the side, which added a fresh and mild taste to the saltiness of the mushroom sauce.

For those not in the mood for beef, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse also offers delectable seafood dishes. We tried the Sauteed Tiger Prawn in which the prawn is served in sofrito and lobster cream and is topped with toasted garlic flakes. The sofrito adds a hint of saltiness and sourness while the garlic flakes balances out the flavours with its spiciness, making this a dish that leaves you wanting more!

No meal is complete without a sweet treat. For dessert, we had the Wooloomooloo Cheesecake (S$19). Served with a raspberry sauce and vanilla ice-cream, it was the perfect end of the meal. The biscuit base was slightly sweet and crunchy, while the cheesecake was creamy and slightly tangy. The sweet ice-cream and raspberry sauce balanced the tangy flavour, making this cheesecake one to remember.
