Step into chic, colonial wonder. I am unabashedly speaking about Krish, the new swanky restaurant at Rochester Park. Decorum is beyond charm, beyond enchantment - it is awe-inspiring. Grand chandeliers, made out of glass bottles of varying lengths to create dimensional effect, certainly steal the show at Krish. It will be the first thing you notice, and the last thing you’ll forgot about this restaurant. Renaissance mirrors with bewitching engravings punctuate the restaurant with class. Dinner setting is modern with sleek furnishings, such as strips of bright pink and purple, adding that tinge of vibrancy in a mostly dark palette interiors. Next, came what we were there for – the cuisine. Krish serves modern European cuisine with a nice touch of South Asian fusion. Delightful. At Krish, because it is inspired by literature, history, and everything to do with the world of fine arts, it is translated to its cuisine. Aesthetics are very important at Krish. Thoughtful architecture of its presentation is never disregarded. With the up and coming offices and residential estates at One-North, Krish has rolled out its new and exciting menu as of 1 September 2010. For starters, grilled onion with apples was deliciously refreshing, completely fulfilling its role as a starter. The grilling method masked the strong and resilient taste of those devilish onions; hence taming the oniony taste, rendering it more refreshing to the palate. Not to mention, the inclusion of apples, a naturally sweet fruit, into this equation made it an even lighter dish to perk up a sleepy drowning afternoon.

For the mains, I had croque madame, which is a French dish with shoe-string fries, sunny-side egg on bread, with rocket leaves salad. The bread was so sinfully crusty on the outside, and tastefully on the inside. This is the stealer of the dish. If I can lend one of the old tagline of a bread brand, it is so good, you can eat it on its own. The rocket leaves balanced the dish acutely as the burst of freshness from the salad softened the other carbohydrate-loaded ingredients. With a sweet tooth, I attacked the desserts without hesitation, as one would imagine; especially so the ones offered at Krish’s menu. Blackcurrant parfait is to die for. The parfait is deconstructed to individual pieces, a special concept of Krish. Cardamom-coconut ice cream with chocolate sable gave that equaliser in palate, with a sweet and a slightly-spiced tone. Exquisite – would be the way to describe it. For an escape from the hard-edged office, or a well-earned break from a long treacherous week, venture down to Krish, the ambience, added with the sleek interiors, coupled with fabulous cuisine, will certainly treat you right.
